Product description
With a PocketDetect LR you have a highly specialized, miniaturized and easy-going voltage detector at your fingertips.
A thorough self-test ensures reliable function. A permanently enabled interface-tester warns against defect interfaces or residual voltages, while the low-power long-term display mode secures live working. The PocketDetect can be carried along due to its diminutive dimensions and lightweight (e.g. in the optional available belt case).
Application and technique
PocketDetect LR is a VDS (Voltage Detecting System) according to IEC/EN 61243-5 (DIN VDE 0682 T415). The coupling system is LR.
The indication of the interface current is carried out by means of two bright LEDs, which display the conditions voltage absent, residual voltage, voltage present, string part ok and high current respectively. After 60 seconds of operation without user interaction the display switches to low power mode, indicating only the states voltage absent and voltage present. The device shuts down after four hours of operation automatically:
Condition | Current | Indication |
---|---|---|
Voltage absent | < 0,3 µA | green continuous light |
Residual voltage | 0,3 – 2,3 µA | green flashing light |
Voltage present | 2,4 – 3,1 µA | red flashing light |
String part ok | 3,2 – 15 µA | red continuous light |
High current | > 15,0 µA | red flashing light (90% On) |
1 – 240 minutes | ||
Voltage absent | 0,0 – 2,3 µA | green flashing light (10% On) |
Voltage present | > 2,4 µA | red flashing light (10% On) |
The evaluation of the actual voltage state is accomplished by an rms-value measuring method independent of the applied waveform. Thus stepper motors or switching power supplies pose no threat. Moreover the interface will not be loaded, like it is ordinarily done in this field of scale.
The integrated self-test ensures unfailing operation. It starts automatically whenever the device is switched on. After pushing the button once the device checks the LEDs, the battery voltage and the correct functioning of electronic measuring circuits and software. When an error is detected you will be notified of fault condition by deterministic flashlight signals and operation is denied.
The power supply is realised by an exchangeable, commercially available lithium coin cell (CR2032) supplying the thrifty microcontroller electronics for many operating hours.
Options
The device can be set to a specific operating / nominal voltage ratio on request.
