Product description
The VisualPhase LCD is a very easy-to-use two-phase voltage detector (VDS), maintenance tester and phase comparator (UPC). Its automatic, thorough self-test ensures reliable function. The permanently enabled interface-testers warn against defect interfaces, whereas a liquid crystal display shows the measured current [I/µA] or frequency [f/Hz]. Thanks to the integrated configuration menu it can be adjusted to switchgears operated below nominal voltage on-site.
The integrated “Universal Phase Comparator” can compare two different interface signals, even if they are of different types or voltages. A unique error control avoids switching errors caused by erratic or unfeasible phase comparison. The digital display of phase angle helps to sync different net segments or to put the phase sequence in desired order.
Application and technique
The VisualPhase LCD is a dual phase VDS (Voltage Detecting System) with integrated UPC (Universal Phase Comparator) for the LR-System in compliance with IEC/EN 61243-5 (DIN VDE 0682 Part 415). Additionally the device connects to HR, MR and LRM string parts with appropriate adapters.
The evaluated indication of the interface current is executed by means of two bright LEDs per phase, which display the conditions voltage absent, residual voltage, voltage present, string part Ok and high current respectively. Additionally you can read the digital ammeter to get the live interface current in [I/µA] for each phase:
Condition | Current (Uo = Un) | Display |
---|---|---|
Voltage absent | < 0.30 µA | Green continuous light |
Residual voltage | 0.30 – 2.49 µA | Green flashing light |
Voltage present | 2.50 – 3.19 µA | Red flashing light |
String part ok | >= 3.20 µA | Red continuous light |
High current | > 15.0 µA | Red flashing light (90% duty cycle) |
The determination is accomplished with an rms-value measuring method independent of the applied waveform. If operating / nominal voltage differ (the ratio is set), the threshold values will be readjusted accordingly, thus stepper motors, switching power supplies or switchgears with lowered operating voltage pose no threat.
The build-in ampere and frequency meter assists in compliant maintenance-testing of switchgears, as stated in section 5.26 of IEC/EN 61243-5, by providing explicit information via the dot matrix display:
Display | Description |
---|---|
Interface current L1: 17.34 µA and Interface current high (equivalent to > 120% Un) |
|
Interface current Lx: 6.85 µA and String part ok |
|
Interface current L1: 2.50 µA and String part defect |
|
Frequency L1: 50.0 Hz and undisturbed, good signal |
|
Frequency L1: 120.3 Hz and frequency too high with signal interference |
Alternatively the multi-functional display can show phase difference φ, rotational field and its analysis. Fast zero-crossing detectors with digital offset compensation carry out phase comparison:
Display | Description |
---|---|
Phase angle -120.3°, counterclockwise rotation field and phase unbalance |
|
Phase angle +119.8°, clockwise rotational field and phase unbalance |
|
Phase angle +0.1° and phase balance |
The integrated self-test ensures secure operation. It starts automatically whenever the device is switched on. You merely plug the connection leads into the test jacks of the device, push the power button once and the device checks the connection leads, the LEDs, the battery and the correct functioning of electronic measuring circuits and software. If an error is detected you will be notified of fault condition before it shuts down.
Options
User-replaceable batteries
The device can be equipped with commercially available Lithium batteries (2x CR123A), to keep the downtime caused by battery exchange small.
Firmware modification
On request we can preset your custom operating / nominal voltage ratios for easy handling or personalize the menu navigation – as far as possible – according to your wishes.
